Breaking News-Return to Sport Plan

Hello Hurricanes

We have received the following news that Diamond Valley Basketball Association are planning our return to basketball as follows:

Return to Sport Plan:
• Competition to resume where possible as per the previous season (Autumn 2020)
• Age group eligibility to stay the same as the Autumn 2020 season (June 30th) This will be called season 2020
• Fixtured games will resume from the 14th of July venues permitting
a. 14th of July U14 girls & U19 Girls
b. 16th of July U16 girls
c. 18th of July U8, U10, U12 girls and all boys age groups with the exception of U21 boys
d. 25th July U21 boys resume competition
• Season to resume with teams graded as per the previous season (Autumn 2020) prior to COVID-19 shutdown
• Finals will be reduced to 2 weeks with the following format (to allow for another week of games for all participants)
a. Week 1 – 1v4 & 2v3
b. Week 2 – Winner of 1v4 & Winner of 2v3
• Timeslots to remain as is, game time to be reduced to allow for enforced COVID-19 safety measures
• 50 minute timeslots to be broken down as follows (to fit in with the Covid 19 restrictions)
a. 14 minutes 1st half
b. 2 minutes half time
c. 14 minutes 2nd half
d. 10 minutes for cleaning and the players and parents to leave
e. 10 minutes for next group of players and parents to enter
f. Clock does not stop
g. 1 timeout per team, per game
h. No time outs in last 3 minutes of either half
• 1 parent per player
• All parents and players must leave facility grounds IMMEDIATELY following completion of game
• All players and parents to sign in and out at every venue
• All venues and games to be conducted under current Basketball Victoria COVID-19 restrictions
• NO basketballs permitted entry into any NJBL sanctioned venue, unless provided by DVBA
• No transfers allowed between clubs for the season
• Teams to begin in the grade they were graded in for Autumn 2020

There are still a few details that we are working on such as confirmation of use of the Hurstbridge stadium, training guidelines and if a supplementary charge toward the end of the season may apply as this will be a longer season. All going well though we plan to be back at training as soon as the term starts on 13 July with the first games commencing on 14 July, subject to any changes in government restrictions.

So that we can confirm teams and coaching arrangements as quickly as possible, can you please let your team manager know whether you plan on returning for the season or not by Friday 3 July.
